Late Winter Chill

On the way home from dinner last night, I was reminded it was still winter in Chicago.  I pulled hood of my jacket over my head and shoved my hands deeper into my pockets to endure the February chill.  As my saunter turned to a brisk pace, creativity swirled about like the icy wind.

Outside I must go

Icy wind assaults and chills

Warm embrace awaits

Where has the time gone?

A flood of recent facebook messages after updating my Relationship Status prompted some nostalgia, followed by a bit of introspection.  While lost in thought on the bus home, I realized I have allowed the whirlwind of the last two years to distract me from the many simple pleasures of life, including writing here.

I took a deep breath last night and stepped into the eye of the whirlwind.  As the calm surrounded me, some clarity returned.

Whirlwind whips tick tock

Storm rages as time passes

The eye calm within

Today is a new day.  Though the whirlwind still surrounds us all, I have a new eye focused on the present.
